Indian Trail Junior High School students are welcomed to school by a "Kindness Tunnel" formed by Indian Trail staff, administrators, Board of Education members and community leaders from intergovernmental agencies. On Feb. 16, Addison Trail Principal Michael Bolden greeted students at Indian Trail Junior High School as part of Indian Trail's Project POP (People Offering Positivity) celebration of Random Acts of Kindness Week.

The theme for the week was "Be the Reason Someone Smiles Today,” and the school recognized the event by:

  • Decorating the halls with kindness posters
  • Sharing a kindness "challenge of the day" and "quote of the day"
  • Hosting a "Smile Station,” where students and staff were able to "send smiles" to others by filling out a note
  • Displaying kind acts completed during the week on a "Kindness Matters" bulletin board

The week culminated with a “Kindness Tunnel” on Feb. 16, where students were welcomed to school by staff, administrators, Board of Education members and community leaders from intergovernmental agencies with cheers, high fives and a performance by the Indian Trail Band. “We work closely with Addison School District 4, and their ‘Kindness Tunnel’ at Indian Trail Junior High School is a wonderful way to meet those students and welcome them to Addison Trail,” Bolden said. “Our goal is to continue to align with District 4 and our other associate districts to ensure students have a successful transition to and from high school.”

Addison Trail also welcomed Indian Trail eighth-graders during its annual Pay It Forward/Freshmen Orientation on Feb. 18. That daylong event involved teambuilding exercises and was an opportunity for incoming students to become familiar with Addison Trail and what it means to be a Blazer.
