Addison Trail teacher receives Midwest Award for Leadership in the Teaching of the Italian Language and Culture

On Nov. 4, Addison Trail World Language Teacher Judie Vitiritti-Lynch received the Midwest Award for Leadership in the Teaching of the Italian Language and Culture.

Vitiritti-Lynch is the first recipient of this honor, which was instituted by the Observatory of the Italian Language in Chicago (OLIC), under the auspices of the Italian Consulate General of Italy in Chicago, with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute in Chicago. The award aims at recognizing and encouraging the involvement of teachers in Italian language promotion programs, and/or innovating teaching methodologies and/or interacting with local communities and organizations.

Vitiritti-Lynch was nominated by Addison Trail alumna Raffaella Spilotro (class of 2000), who now teaches Italian at Oak Park and River Forest High School.
