Willowbrook Guidance Counseling & Student Services

The Willowbrook High School Guidance & Counseling Program has met the criteria to become a Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) by the American School Counselor Association! The RAMP designation is awarded to schools that align with the criteria set by the ASCA national model. A RAMP designated school counseling program must demonstrate a comprehensive, data-driven program that meets the needs of all students, and the designation is held for three years. There are less than 500 schools in the country and only 36 in Illinois who have received the RAMP designation. For more information on ASCA and RAMP, click here.

MISSION:

The Mission of District 88’s Guidance & School Counseling Program is to promote and enhance the continuous improvement of student achievement through academic, social/emotional and post-secondary/career development.

As student advocates, in partnership with educators, parents and community members, we encourage self-awareness, independence, uniqueness and personal worth of all students, to maximize the knowledge and skills required to achieve their personal goals and to become competent adults.

 PHILOSOPHY:

The counselors at Willowbrook believe in the following for ALL students:

  • The ability to achieve.
  • Each student has the right to be surrounded by a supportive academic community that has high expectations and assists students to meet those expectations.
  • Access to a comprehensive school counseling program, regardless of their diverse needs.
  • Data will be collected and used to create and address the needs of stakeholders in our community.
  • All programming will align to the ASCA national standards and ethics.

The Willowbrook Counseling Program will include the following components:

  • A comprehensive curriculum that addresses the needs of all students in regard to academic, social/emotional and post-secondary needs.
  • A program that addresses the developmental needs of our student population through needs-assessment and survey-data collection.
  • A Pupil Personnel Services Team (PPS) to address the various needs of our at-risk student popluation and provide interventions.
  • An Advisory Council that will be used to evaluate and modify programs, receive input and discuss future programming needs.

The Counselors at Willowbrook will:

  • Act as an advocate for all students.
  • Adhere to the professional school counseling ethical guidelines and national standards.
  • Participate in professional development activities to offer a valuable school counseling program.
  • Serve as members of the Advisory Council and PPS Team.
  • Plan and manage the comprehensive and developmental school counseling program.

Parents and students are encouraged to contact their counselor for any assistance with college, career, academic or social-emotional assistance. Counselors are assigned based on the student's last name and are listed below.
