Willowbrook students witness Illinois Supreme Court proceedings

On May 19, four Willowbrook students had the opportunity to witness Illinois Supreme Court proceedings at Benedictine University.

During their visit, the students observed two oral arguments live as attorneys presented their cases before the state's high court. According to a Chicago Tribune article, “The visit to Benedictine … was the first time the court has held oral arguments at an educational institution and only the third time in recent years the court has convened outside of Springfield and Chicago.”

The Willowbrook students who attended the fieldtrip are Cynthia Orizaba, Leenah Ayesh, Caitlin Foley and Maryam Hussain. They were accompanied by Willowbrook social studies teachers Matt Clapper and Matt Scott.
