Addison Trail hosts 2016 commencement ceremony

On May 22, members of the class of 2016 received their diplomas and graduated from Addison Trail during the school’s 50th commencement ceremony. This year, about 460 students have graduated from Addison Trail.

Family members and friends cheered on the graduates, and Addison Trail Principal Michael Bolden, District 88 Board of Education President Donna Craft Cain and class of 2016 graduation speaker Daniela Diaz Vazquez offered words of encouragement and congratulations.

The Addison Trail Symphony Orchestra, as well as members of the Addison Trail Choir and the Shades of Blue choral performing group, provided musical entertainment during the ceremony. Those groups performed the school’s new alma mater, which was debuted earlier this school year. The alma mater was composed in honor of Addison Trail’s 50th anniversary (which will take place during the 2016-17 school year) and the retirement of Addison Trail Music Department Chair and Orchestra Director Dan O’Connell at the end of this school year. The piece is entitled "Hail to Thee" (words by Addison Trail alumna Julia Dziabis, class of 2015, and music by Robert Longfield).
