District 88 students visit DuSable Museum of African American History

On April 22, about 60 Addison Trail and Willowbrook students visited the DuSable Museum of African American History in Chicago. The field trip was led by Addison Trail Dean Curtis Tate and Willowbrook Guidance Counselors Dana Whittaker and LeVar Ammons.

According to www.dusablemuseum.org, the mission of the museum is, “To promote understanding and inspire appreciation of the achievements, contributions and experiences of African Americans through exhibits, programs and activities that illustrate African and African American history, culture and art.”

The District 88 students were able to view the various exhibits at the museum, and they also participated in meetings before and after the field trip to reflect on what they saw and learned.
