Counseling Corner: Willowbrook Guidance Department celebrates National School Counseling Week

The Willowbrook Guidance Department celebrated National School Counseling Week from Feb. 1 to 5.

To promote the event, the department offered students stickers with the words “I heart my school counselor” and pencils with the words “Celebrate School Counseling.”

According to http://tinyurl.com/p3pylvc, the theme of this year’s week is “School Counseling: The Recipe for Success.” The goal of National School Counseling Week is “to focus public attention on the contributions of professional school counselors within U.S. school systems.” School counselors design and deliver comprehensive school counseling programs that promote student achievement. Those programs are comprehensive in scope, preventative in design and developmental in nature. National School Counseling Week, sponsored by the American School Counselor Association, “highlights the tremendous impact counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.”
