Addison Trail hosts Homecoming 2015

From Sept. 21 to 26, Addison Trail celebrated Homecoming Week with several events and activities.

This year’s theme was “Superhero Training.” Throughout the week, students and staff showed their Blazer Pride and school spirit.

Highlights of Homecoming Week included:

  • Sept. 21: Homecoming Variety Show (a student talent show that featured 14 acts)
  • Sept. 22: Homecoming Boys Soccer Game against Hinsdale South (Addison Trail won) and Girls Volleyball Game against Willowbrook (annual “Volley for a Cure” game to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research – Addison Trail won)
  • Sept. 23: Homecoming Bonfire and Powder-Puff Game (the seniors won against the juniors, and the freshmen won against the sophomores)
  • Sept. 24: Addison Trail students enrolled in the Hotel & Restaurant course competed in a "Cupcake War" by creating and baking their own cupcakes. Four teams competed for "Best Looking Cupcake" and "Best Tasting Cupcake." The design was “superheroes” to correspond with the Homecoming theme. Full-sized cupcakes were made with superhero décor, and each group made 100 mini cupcakes for students to taste. Ballots were available, and voting was tabulated. Members of Group 1 won "Best Looking Cupcake" with fondant Spiderman webs and faces on their cupcakes, and members of Group 4 won "Best Tasting Cupcake" for their marshmallow-filled red velvet cupcakes that were topped with cream cheese frosting.
  • Sept. 25: Homecoming Pep Assembly and Football Game against Leyden (Addison Trail won); the game included fireworks
  • Sept. 26: Homecoming Dance “Save the Night” (a school record of more than 1,200 students attended the dance, which included entertainment and disc jockey services provided by BOOM Entertainment)
