This state-level contest recognizes high-quality school publications and materials that promote the mission and message of a school district. We received two Awards of Excellence, the highest honor, and two Awards of Merit, the second-highest honor. Below is more information about those four entries.

  • We received an Award of Excellence in the Special Purpose category for the “Mentor Program presentation,” which shares information about the Addison Mentor Program. See the entry at https://dupage88.net/site/public/files/?item=2392
  • We received an Award of Excellence in the Writing category for the story “Beyond the gym: Willowbrook senior teaches life lessons to young gymnast,” which tells the story of Keawe Winstead, Willowbrook class of 2015, and his special bond with Payton O’Brien. O’Brien is an athlete Keawe coaches, who was diagnosed with an aggressive form of bone cancer in February 2014, which resulted in his right leg needing to be amputated.
