Chicago Fire Soccer Club player visits Addison Trail

On June 17, members of the Addison Trail Boys Soccer Team were able to meet, practice with and learn from Chicago Fire Soccer Club player Patrick Nyarko.

Nyarko worked with 36 student-athletes during the High School Soccer Camp at Addison Trail and stressed to the players the importance of putting in 100-percent effort every day to make sure they’re continuously improving. He also conducted warm-up and possession team drills, and he spoke to the players about working out, proper nutrition and staying on the right path to become successful.

At the end of the event, Nyarko recognized several student-athletes who put in extra effort by presenting them with Chicago Fire gear. And the team thanked Nyarko for his time and expertise by giving him an Addison Trail Soccer jersey.

Boys Soccer Head Coach Ryan Dini said Addison Trail alumnus Pat Dinunzio (class of 2000) has a contact on the Chicago Fire team and was able to coordinate having Nyarko come to the school.

“I was truly grateful at being able to bring in a success story like Nyarko to Addison Trail,” Dini said. “Our coaching staff has really worked hard on building the soccer program to what it is now, and it’s days like this that bring our team closer together on the field. To be able to have a professional soccer player come and work with our team for two hours is very special. The interaction with the players is something they will never forget.”
