Counseling Corner: Addison Trail Guidance Department shares summer hours and tips for students to prepare for 2015-16

Summer break might be right around the corner, but Addison Trail counselors will still be available to meet with students and parents while school is out.

Counselors will be in the office during the hours listed below to discuss a number of topics, including students’ 2015-16 schedule and college, career and four-year planning. The Guidance Department also offers the following tips for students during the summer to help them prepare for the 2015-16 school year.

  • If you are enrolled in an Advanced Placement (AP)/college-level course, make sure you get your summer work. The Guidance Office will have extra copies of any work you have not received. Don’t wait until the end of summer to complete your assignments!
  • If you received an incomplete and need to make up a final exam, please contact the Guidance Office at 630-628-3318 to schedule a time to complete the exam.
  • For seniors, build your wish list of colleges. Visit the colleges’ websites to see when the application will open.
  • For seniors, update your résumé, and find sample questions to help you get ready for the essay questions on your college applications.

Summer is a time to rest and relax. However, make sure you also pick up a book of your leisure and read to help you stay in tune with your studies.
