Willowbrook hosts State sendoff celebration for Girls Track and Field Team members

On May 20, Willowbrook hosted a State sendoff celebration for the student-athletes who competed in the Illinois High School Association Girls Track and Field State Meet.

The competition took place from May 21 to 23 at Eastern Illinois University.

• Sophomore Grace Guthrie, junior Melissa Johnston, junior Diana Marin and junior Shannon Jones competed in the 4x800-meter relay. Alternates were freshman Catherine Carey, freshman Briana Jones, freshman Ashley Tegtmeyer, junior Kimberly Leon-Cervantes, junior Diana Mendoza and freshman BettyAnn Garrett.
• Jones also competed in the 800-meter run.
• Sophomore Kyla Denwood competed in discus.
