District 88 to administer PARCC End Of Year Assessment

This school year, Illinois schools are administering new assessments created through the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC).

According to the Illinois State Board of Education, “These online assessments are fully aligned to the new Illinois learning standards in English Language Arts (ELA) and math and are designed to make sure each student is not only prepared for the next grade level, but also is on track for postsecondary success. The PARCC system places a greater emphasis on academic rigor, critical thinking, problem solving and college and career readiness for all students.”

The PARCC assessments replace the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) in elementary schools and the Prairie State Achievement Exam (PSAE) in high schools. For high school students, the PARCC assessments are designed for specific courses, not grade levels. At the high school level, districts have been given the flexibility this year to choose from three combinations of courses. This year, District 88, along with many high school districts in Illinois, is testing students enrolled in ELA 1 (English 9) and Algebra 1.

District 88 administered the Performance-Based Assessment (PBA) in March and will administer the End Of Year (EOY) Assessment on May 19 and 20 at Addison Trail and on May 26 and 27 at Willowbrook. Parents of students who will take the PARCC assessments should have received a letter with detailed information. To view those letters, click on the links below.
