District 88 Board of Education recognizes five students for state-level achievements

During its April 13 meeting, the District 88 Board of Education recognized three Addison Trail and two Willowbrook students for their state-level achievements from the winter 2014-15 athletic season.

The students were honored in front of their family members, the Board of Education and District 88 administrators. Each student’s coach or principal spoke about his or her accomplishments, and the students received a certificate for their success. The students who were recognized are:

Addison Trail

  • Sophomore Kennedy O’Neill: Competed in the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Girls Gymnastics State Meet, which took place on Feb. 20 and 21 at Palatine High School. O’Neill competed in the all-around, bars and beam events and finished in 12th place on beam.
  • Senior Anthony Metallo: Competed in the IHSA Boys Wrestling State Tournament, which took place from Feb. 19 to 21 at State Farm Center in Champaign. He competed in the 145-pound division.
  • Senior Amanda Jastrzebski: Competed in the IHSA Girls Bowling State Tournament, which took place on Feb. 20 and 21 at the Cherry Bowl in Rockford.

Willowbrook

  • Freshman Jack Jessen: Competed in the IHSA Boys Wrestling State Tournament, which took place from Feb. 19 to 21 at State Farm Center in Champaign. Jessen competed in the 170-pound division and finished in 2nd place.
  • Junior Matt Rowland: Competed in the IHSA Boys Wrestling State Tournament, which took place from Feb. 19 to 21 at State Farm Center in Champaign. Rowland competed in the 152-pound division and finished in 2nd place. He also was named as the February TribLocal Athlete of the Month.
