District 88 Board of Education election results

I would like to share with you the results of the District 88 Board of Education election that took place on April 7.

We had five candidates and four open seats. According to the unofficial election results, the candidates who have been elected to serve on the District 88 Board of Education are:

Jan Donovan
Donovan is new to the Board, and we look forward to welcoming him. He has been in education for 17 years and has worked with a variety of districts as a consultant for almost eight years.

Tim Gillen
Gillen has served on the Board since 2011. He has been on several Board committees, and his two sons graduated from Willowbrook.

Sharon Kucik
Kucik has served on the Board since 2007. She has been on several Board committees and is President of the District 88 Foundation. Her three children are Willowbrook graduates.

Lisa Lullo
Lullo has served on the Board since 2011. She is an Addison Trail alumna, and her four children graduated from Addison Trail as well. She also has served on several Board committees.

School Board members serve their communities without monetary compensation to make public education the best it can be for every child. Their policies and oversight guide the district as tough decisions are made on complex education and social issues that affect the entire community and the lives of individual students. They serve many hours attending meetings, workshops and events to ensure a high-quality educational environment at District 88.

I would like to personally thank all of the candidates for running for the District 88 Board of Education. Having three incumbent members continue on the Board shows their dedication to our students, and I appreciate their support and passion in accomplishing our mission of working for the continuous improvement of student achievement.

The four candidates above will be officially sworn in during the May 4, 2015, Board meeting. They will join Board members Donna Craft Cain, Jay Irvin and Thomas Edmier.
