Counseling Corner: Addison Trail Guidance Department helps students complete FAFSA form, shares information about College of DuPage

On Feb. 12, the Addison Trail Guidance Department, along with representatives from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) and Jennifer Prusko from College of DuPage (COD), assisted more than 50 students and parents with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Spanish and English one-on-one assistance was provided. Students who have not completed the FAFSA form or who have questions about the form should see their counselor as soon as possible.

On March 10 and 11, seniors who have applied to COD will have an opportunity to take two out of the three COMPASS placement tests required by COD. Those students should have received a letter about which tests they need to take based on their ACT scores.

On March 20, Addison Trail Guidance Counselors Jessica Connolly and John Cord will take students to COD’s Technical Education Career Exploration Day. Through that event, juniors and seniors will have an opportunity to explore the various CTE programs at COD such as automotive technology, welding technology, game design, computer information systems, horticulture, HVAC, manufacturing technology and office technology information. Addison Trail students who are enrolled in CTE classes, students in the ACHIEVE program and ESL students will get to meet experts and educators in those fields and will tour the various programs at COD.
