District 88 Board of Education recognizes 11 students for state-level achievements

During its Feb. 9 meeting, the District 88 Board of Education recognized seven Addison Trail and four Willowbrook students for their state-level achievements from fall 2014.

The students were honored in front of the Board of Education, District 88 administrators and their families. Each student’s coach/sponsor spoke about his or her accomplishments at the state level, and the students received a certificate for their success. The students who were recognized are:

Addison Trail:

  • Senior Mike Rybarczyk: 2014 Illinois High School Football Coaches Association (IHSFCA) 7A All-State Team
  • Senior Jake Atiyeh: 2014 Illinois High School Football Coaches Association (IHSFCA) 7A Academic All-State Team
  • Senior Eric Gilliam: 2014 Illinois High School Football Coaches Association (IHSFCA) 7A Academic All-State Team
  • Senior Matt Gontarek: 2014 Illinois High School Football Coaches Association (IHSFCA) 7A Academic All-State Team
  • Senior Tyler Schroeder-Zelek: 2014 Illinois High School Football Coaches Association (IHSFCA) 7A Academic All-State Team
  • Junior Daniel Nowosad: Selected to audition for the Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) All-State Orchestra (only four tuba players throughout Illinois were invited to audition, and Nowosad was named as the top tuba player)
  • Junior Lia Caruso: Selected to participate in the Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) All-State Future Music Educators Seminar at the Illinois Music Education Conference

Willowbrook:

  • Senior Kelly McNamara: State Champion of the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Girls Swimming & Diving 100-yard butterfly
  • Junior Kyle Martyniuk: 2014 Illinois High School Football Coaches Association (IHSFCA) 7A Academic All-State Team
  • Senior Mike Rogalski: Named as a member of the 2014 Chicago Fire Boys All-State All-Academic Team (1st Team)
  • Senior Alex Lapinski: Selected to the Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) All-State Honors Chorus for the second year in a row
