AT-WB Girls Swim Team member places second at State competition

Four members of the AT-WB Girls Swim Team competed in the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Girls Swimming State competition Nov. 22 and 23 at New Trier Township High School.

Willowbrook senior Molly Kuenstler, Willowbrook junior Molly Hill, Willowbrook junior Kelly McNamara and Addison Trail freshman Annalise Morrone competed in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Sophomore Meghan Koterba was the alternate for the relay.

McNamara also competed in the 100-yard butterfly, where she finished in second place.

"I was really excited," McNamara said of the accomplishment. "It means a lot to do well and to be well represented at the State meet."

McNamara's second-place finish is particularly impressive given the team does not have a pool in which to practice. They travel to Club Fitness in Addison every day to practice.

"We spend a lot of time on the bus just to get to a pool," McNamara said with a laugh.

This was McNamara's third time competing at State, and she's looking forward to next year.

"Our goal this year as a team was to win Conference, and we're proud we accomplished that," she said.
