Willowbrook hosts music days for middle school students

On Oct. 22, Willowbrook hosted an Orchestra Invitational, where students from Jackson, Jefferson and Albright middle schools performed with the Willowbrook Orchestra.

On Oct. 25, 178 students from School District 45, Salt Creek School District 48 and Saint Alexander School participated in Willowbrook’s annual Band Day.

Band Day is where students from Willowbrook’s feeder schools come to Willowbrook to learn marching fundamentals and rehearse with the high school students. Each middle-school student is assigned to a Willowbrook student who graduated from his or her school. At the end of the day, everyone comes together and rehearses as one ensemble. This year, the Willowbrook students also performed their halftime show for the younger students and answered questions they had about marching band.

The ensemble then performed at the opening of the District 88 cross-town football game (Willowbrook versus Addison Trail) that evening.

On Oct. 29, Willowbrook hosted a Choir Invitational, where more than 200 students from Jackson and Jefferson middle schools, as well as local private schools, performed four pieces with the Willowbrook Choir.
