Addison Trail alumna featured on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ for academic and career accomplishments

When Addison Trail alumna Estefania Diaz (class of 2015) posted a video of her parents dropping her off on her first day of work as an attorney after passing the bar exam, she never could have imagined how it would resonate with viewers and that it would gain national attention.

On Nov. 7, Diaz was featured on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” for her accomplishments.

Diaz said her parents emigrated from Mexico, and she is the first person in her family to graduate from college and law school.

“Starting from that very young age, (my parents) reinforced that education was the route to success in this country,” Diaz said in the segment. “I watched them sacrifice and work so hard, so that I could be successful.”

Clarkson spoke to Diaz about why so many people seem to connect with the video.

“It’s a reminder that the American dream isn’t dead,” Diaz said. “There’s an entire generation of immigrants and children of immigrants, like myself, who are breaking barriers and becoming widely successful in their respective career paths.”
