Addison Trail alumna joins U.S. President Biden to discuss 'Infrastructure Talent Pipeline Challenge'

When U.S. President Joe Biden spoke on Nov. 2 at The White House about working to strengthen the infrastructure talent pipeline through the “Infrastructure Talent Pipeline Challenge,” he was introduced by a familiar face to the Addison community.

Addison Trail alumna Alyssa Cruz (class of 2011) joined Biden and spoke about her experience as a fourth-year apprentice of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) local 134 in Chicago, the benefits of being a union member and how the industry continues to expand to include more diverse workers. Cruz comes from a family of union members, but is the first female to join.

“I’m proud to represent the next generation of skilled tradeswomen and men, who will power America’s future,” Cruz said. “This 'Talent Pipeline Challenge' is only the beginning for me, for my union, for our country. There’s literally nothing we can’t do. Mr. President, we’re ready to work.”
