Important update regarding District 88 final exams

District 88 recognizes the importance of final exams and traditionally administers these assessments at the end of each semester, which are worth 20 percent of a student’s grade in each course.

After discussion with students, staff and Board of Education members, the administration will reduce the impact of final exams on first-semester grades. The tests will be weighted at 10 percent (instead of 20 percent). This change is being implemented to align with the district’s current grading practices and to assist students as they continue to face challenges as a result of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. The administration will continue to evaluate this process to determine whether it will be maintained in the future.

At District 88, the health and well-being of students is the No. 1 priority, and the goal of this adjustment is to support pupils.
