Food for thought: Addison Trail students enjoy pizza party to recognize achievement in summer reading

On Sept. 12, 11 Addison Trail students enjoyed a pizza party to recognize their achievement of reading 10 or more books during the summer.

The recognition was an extension of the Summer Reading Program coordinated by Elizabeth Lynch, Teen Librarian with the Addison Public Library. Rose Janusz, District 88 Library Media Center Director, said the pizza party was an incentive for students to read more, as it was offered only to Addison Trail students who read at least 10 books during the summer.

The students who attended the recognition are Greta Qano, Shannan Abraham, Sabrina Majeed, Victoria Robles, Lizbeth Herrera, Angel Placencio, Kali Placencio, Hershey Marzo, Betsi Beltran-Davila, Marylou Santillan and Maritza Santillan.

Addison Trail and Willowbrook also are hosting the Read for a Lifetime program and the Abraham Lincoln Illinois High School Book Award program. Read for a Lifetime is the first statewide reading program to target high school students and was designed to promote the enjoyment of reading by encouraging students to read classic and contemporary literature and rewarding them for their effort.
