Willowbrook alumni share experiences of participating in dual-credit courses

Willowbrook alumni Juan Gallegos and James Guerrier (class of 2015) were recently featured in a College of DuPage (COD) article, where they shared their experiences of participating in dual-credit classes and the benefits of those courses, including earning college credit while in high school.

Gallegos and Guerrier were enrolled in those courses through Willowbrook's Career and Technical Education (CTE) Department, which offers 18 dual-credit opportunities for students.

During his junior year at Willowbrook, Gallegos enrolled in two COD dual-credit courses offered at the school (culinary arts and accounting).

“Entering college with six credits under my belt decreased the time it took me to complete my degree,” Gallegos said in the article. “I also saved nearly $1,000 in course and textbook fees, because dual-credit classes are offered at no cost.”

For Guerrier, a COD dual-credit course led him on a path to his current career as a human resources consultant.

“The dual-credit program allowed me to explore a field I was interested in, further solidifying my decision to study business in college,” Guerrier said.
