Addison Trail ACHIEVE Department

The ACHIEVE program allows us to better serve students who need more intensive academic, motivational and social-emotional supports.The ACHIEVE program began in fall 2012 and provides consistent and flexible programming for our most at-risk populations. Instruction is delivered using a combination of co-taught direct instruction and computer-based curriculum supplementation. Students have the opportunity to spend one to eight periods in the program, and alternative schedules (such as late day) are made possible based on student need.

The ACHIEVE program is designed to meet the following objectives:

• Improve the educational outcomes in the core areas by providing high-quality instruction by content-certified staff together with SPED staff, using curriculum that’s aligned to the Common Core Standards to ensure students are college and career ready
• Improve the post-secondary outcomes for students by providing high-quality transition services, as well as offering the option to take elective classes outside of the program
• Personalize the learning environment by programming individually and flexibly for students based on their academic and social-emotional needs
• Increase behavior outcomes by creating highly structured, consistent and positive behavior interventions linked to the school-wide PBIS (Blazer Pride and Warrior Code)
• Increase credit completion and graduation rate by providing computer-based credit recovery and supplemental instruction
• Increase opportunities for SPED students to be educated with their peers in regular education as required by law
• Increase opportunities for at-risk students who don’t qualify for SPED to receive intensive services as needed
