During its March 23 meeting, the District 88 Board of Education approved the administration’s recommendation to name Dr. Jamie Gourley as Willowbrook’s new Assistant Principal, effective July 1.

Dr. Gourley is a familiar face to Willowbrook, as she joined the school in 2006. She has served as a reading teacher, an ESL teacher, an instructional coach in literacy and technology, the Literacy Department Head and Assistant Principal. She also coached the boys and girls swim teams and sponsored Student Council.

This past year, Dr. Gourley served as District 88’s Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. Current Willowbrook Assistant Principal Yvonne Tsagalis will move into that role. Read more about Tsagalis at https://www.dupage88.net/site/page/11536.

“Jamie has been part of District 88 and the Warrior family for nearly 15 years, and we couldn’t be more excited to have her back in our building full time as one of our assistant principals,” said Dr. Daniel Krause, Willowbrook Principal. “Her knowledge, skills and passion are a tremendous asset to ensure the Warrior Pride at Willowbrook continues for years to come.”

Dr. Gourley received her bachelor’s degree in English from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned master’s degrees in the Teaching of Reading, Curriculum and Instruction with ELL concentration and Educational Leadership. She also earned a Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS1) Endorsement, as well as her doctoral degree in Ethical Leadership from Olivet Nazarene University.

“I couldn’t be more pleased with the Board’s decision to appoint Dr. Gourley to this position,” said Dr. Scott Helton, District 88 Superintendent. “I want to thank Jamie for her service to District 88 in her capacity as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. She has done a great job in her current position, and I am confident she will continue to add value to the Willowbrook and District 88 administrative teams.”

As Assistant Principal, Gourley said her focus will be to partner with the district’s stakeholders to continue building on the opportunities Willowbrook provides for its pupils.

“I am looking forward to working with the District 88 team of educators to continue to provide engaging learning experiences, supports and programs for all of our students,” Gourley said. “I am thrilled to be a part of the planning and implementation of innovative programs and 21st-century learning initiatives as we strive to make sure all students graduate from District 88 having had a comprehensive learning environment in preparation for their next steps in life. I am hopeful I can bring my experiences as a classroom teacher, an instructional coach and the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction to support our talented staff at Willowbrook to maintain and enhance that culture.”

Gourley lives in La Grange with her husband, Scott, and their two children, Porter and Payton.
