Twenty-three Addison Trail students qualify to compete in SkillsUSA Illinois State Leadership & Skills Conference

Twenty-three Addison Trail students have qualified to compete in the SkillsUSA Illinois State Leadership & Skills Conference.

Although the conference (which was scheduled to take place from April 23 to 25 in Springfield, Ill.) has been canceled because of health and safety concerns regarding coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), District 88 wants to recognize these students and acknowledge their accomplishments.

According to http://skillsusaillinois.org, “SkillsUSA Illinois is committed to providing an experience to our membership … (and) has been contacted by numerous technical committee members and business and industry partners offering their assistance to ensure we are able to offer our members an opportunity to showcase their skills. In response to this overwhelming support, SkillsUSA Illinois is exploring a Virtual Championships to be held April 27 – May 6. Contests would be facilitated as a virtual contest, project submission and/or online exam. The top student from these events would have the opportunity to advance to the SkillsUSA Championships at the National Leadership and Skills Conference.”

SkillsUSA Illinois is a state and national membership association serving high school, college and middle school students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations, and for further education.
