Addison Trail alumnus Aaron Ozee (class of 2014) poses with his children's book "Regulus." The book was recently made into a movie, which was set to debut on July 25. But to help families deal with the impact of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Ozee is releasing his film ahead of schedule to provide an outlet of entertainment to help children cope with and get through this challenging time. Ozee also will donate 50-percent of sales collected from the movie and book, as well as each title released under his name, for the remainder of 2020 to help those affected by COVID-19.

As families deal with the impact of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) – including school and work closures, social distancing and shelter-in-place mandates – finding ways to help children cope with and get through this challenging time is critical.

Addison Trail alumnus Aaron Ozee (class of 2014) is lending a hand by providing family entertainment through releasing his film, “Regulus,” ahead of schedule. The theatrical feature is based on Ozee’s children’s book of the same name and tells the story of three tiny mice, who represent innocence and youth, as they cross paths with the titular character, Regulus, who represents the more troubling moments in life. The story continues to reach audiences throughout the world, as Ozee has partnered with groups to launch a printed copy of “Regulus” into space and to bring the book to Mount Everest, the Galápagos Islands and Chernobyl.

Ozee sold the production rights from his notable creation to animation group Bizarros Studio to develop “Regulus” into a movie. The release date was set for July 25, but Ozee has chosen to debut the movie early for a limited duration during this unprecedented time. An exclusive premiere is still scheduled to take place on July 25 in or near Chicago, pending any COVID-19 developments.

“We as the human race understand the coming threats of the COVID-19 pandemic and seek entertainment to distract us …,” Ozee said in a press release. “We know that children are the future, and during this grim period of history, they need creative stimulation more now than ever before. And, with that being said, we are proud to announce 50-percent of the sales collected from the ‘Regulus’ movie, the ‘Regulus’ book (ISBN: 9781387010790) and each title released under my name will be donated for the remainder of 2020 to help those affected by this unexpected health disaster. We are in this fight together. We are not alone here!”
