District 88 staff members participate in 2020 Oak Brook Polar Plunge

On Feb. 29, staff members from Addison Trail and Willowbrook braved the chilly weather and participated in the 2020 Oak Brook Polar Plunge to raise funds for Special Olympics Illinois.

According to https://tinyurl.com/vtz2qnt, “The Polar Plunge, presented by Law Enforcement Torch Run and GEICO, is a unique opportunity to support Special Olympics athletes by taking a flying leap – a leap into the frigid waters of Oak Brook Bath & Tennis Club. Participants (had to) raise $100 in donations from friends, family and co-workers in exchange for jumping into the icy waters.”

From Addison Trail, special education teachers Jessica Sokolowski, Anthony Gebhart and Julie Johnson (Department Head) and special education teacher aides Patty Hochheimer and Dawn Tyler “took the plunge.” They're pictured above (from left to right) at the event.

At Willowbrook, Principal Dr. Daniel Krause (pictured above, center) jumped in. Click on the image to watch a video of his run.

Nearly 380 people participated in the event, which raised $118,632.83.
