Addison Trail hosts Young Hearts for Life cardiac screening event

Addison Trail hosted a Young Hearts for Life cardiac screening event on Feb. 20. Pictured above, Addison Trail freshman Alexandria Magnusson (left) and sophomore Farooq Siddiqui (right) get screened during the event.

Those who stopped by Addison Trail on Feb. 20 might have noticed the field house was filled with cardiac screening machines, doctors, nurses and volunteers.

The school again participated in the Young Hearts for Life® (YH4L) Cardiac Screening Program on that day. The No. 1 priority at District 88 and Addison Trail is the safety and well-being of students, and this event provided students with free electrocardiograms to identify those at risk for heart conditions.

District 88 is thankful to Young Hearts for Life for offering this opportunity to help ensure students’ health. More than 1,000 (1,012) Addison Trail pupils were screened thanks to:

  • The support of Edward-Elmhurst Health, who sponsored the program
  • Addison Trail staff members, who helped organize students and get the building ready
  • The staff at Young Hearts for Life
  • More than 100 volunteers
  • Odeum Expo Center, who provided the privacy stations
