Counseling Corner: Addison Trail Guidance Department shares important course selection information for sophomores and juniors

Believe it or not, it’s time for members of the class of 2021 and the class of 2022 to choose courses for the 2020-21 school year.

Sophomores and juniors will select courses during their physical education class in January or February (see dates below). They recently received course selection information, and a copy also was mailed to each parent/guardian.

Course selection is a vital part of a student’s high school career, and parental involvement is essential to assist students in making successful academic choices. To view the Course Listing Guide, go to https://www.dupage88.net/site/page/19.

Below is the course selection schedule:

  • Class of 2022: Jan. 21 to 24
  • Class of 2021: Jan. 28 to 31 and Feb. 4 to 7

We understand that during the registration process, students might need extra time to discuss courses with their counselors. Students will be able to set up appointments with their counselors to ask questions or to make changes to their class schedule. All course selections will be considered final on Feb. 24.

Below are important reminders regarding the course selection process:

  • Students should consider their future college/career goals when choosing courses.
  • Students need to be enrolled in at least six periods, plus a lunch.
  • Schedules are computer generated, so counselors are unable to confirm a specific schedule.
  • A parent/guardian must sign the registration form.
  • Course selections will be considered final on Feb. 24.

If you would like to meet with your student’s counselor to discuss course registration, feel free to contact him or her directly. Contact information can be found at https://tinyurl.com/z2w6j44. Counselors also will be available during the Guidance Department Open House from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 20.
