Counseling Corner: Addison Trail Guidance Department to host Career Week to help ensure students are ready for the workforce

At District 88, our mission is to work for the continuous improvement of student achievement. To assist with accomplishing that mission, we implement programs, events and services to help ensure students are career ready and have the skills and knowledge to succeed in the workforce.

As part of that focus, the Addison Trail Guidance Department will host its annual Career Week from Oct. 21 to 25. During that event, students are able to explore various careers, hear from professionals, improve their résumé writing and interviewing skills and attend field trips. Addison Trail is working with Junior Achievement of Chicago to provide the following opportunities.

Oct. 18 and 25: Field Trips
Students visited Chamberlain College of Nursing on Oct. 18 and will tour Universal Technical Institute on Oct. 25.

Oct. 22: Career Day
Business professionals will visit more than 50 classrooms to share information about their education background and career field.

Oct. 23: Career Fair
More than 50 business professionals and organizations will participate in Addison Trail’s annual Career Fair, which will take place during lunch periods in the Commons area. Students can speak one-on-one with the representatives and learn about job options available to them.

Oct. 24: Interview and Résumé Workshops
Career professionals will visit classrooms to facilitate résumé and interview workshops.

Addison Trail will provide students with career exploration opportunities throughout the school year. If you’re interested in sharing information about your career or education experiences, contact Addison Trail Guidance Counselor Dana Marine at 630-628-3373 or DMarine@dupage88.net.
