District 88 ready for the 2013-14 school year

District 88 administrators and staff members are ready for the 2013-14 school year, which will begin Aug. 21.

On Aug. 5, district administrators attended training with Dana and Deb Hult with Core Trainings and Cindy Baasten with Sraga Hauser LLC.

On Aug. 6 and 7, administrators and staff members discussed the areas of focus for 2013-14, which include aligning to the Common Core State Standards.

On Aug. 15, the new District 88 staff members were welcomed to the district, and village officials and service organization members from Addison and Villa Park joined the district for breakfast. Members from the Village of Villa Park, the Villa Park Police Department, the Villa Park Public Library, the Addison Fire Protection District, the Addison Police Department, the Addison Public Library and the Addison Lions Club attended the event. On Aug. 19, District 88 staff members were welcomed to the 2013-14 school year. District 88 Board of Education President Donna Craft Cain shared words of encouragement, and District 88 Superintendent Dr. Scott Helton showed a PowerPoint presentation and videos that highlighted the successes of last year and the district’s goals and focus for this year. Staff members also received training from Daniel Boyle and Cindy Baasten with Sraga Hauser LLC. There was a lot of energy and excitement to be back in the buildings, and District 88 looks forward to another great school year.
