District 88 to host Relay For Life of District 88 Youth

March 9, 2019

Willowbrook High School

Cancer survivors take the first lap during a previous Relay For Life of District 88 Youth event at Willowbrook. This year's relay will take place on March 9, and registration is open now at www.RelayForLife.org/D88IL.

At District 88, giving back and helping others is a cornerstone of pride. And one of the district’s main fundraising events is the Relay For Life of District 88 Youth, which is the culmination of Willowbrook’s Brook Olympics (a weeklong series of events and challenges created to enhance tradition and class spirit and pride at the school). Those events – along with “Go Pink” efforts in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month – raise funds for the American Cancer Society.

This year is the district’s 9th annual relay, and the event will take place on March 9 at Willowbrook. It will feature a variety of activities and games, and there also will be a luminaria to remember those who have lost their battle with cancer. Community members are invited to participate from 6 to 11 p.m., and District 88 students who complete a permission slip and raise at least $115 can attend from 6 p.m. on March 9 to 6 a.m. on March 10.

Register online at www.RelayForLife.org/D88IL, and see instructions at www.dupage88.net/D88Relay2019. Donations can be made online at www.RelayForLife.org/D88IL as well, and proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.

The Willowbrook Blue Crew also will host a “Purple Out” competition between Willowbrook students and staff throughout February to see which group can raise the most money for this cause. See details at https://www.dupage88.net/site/public/files/?item=4294.
