At District 88, our mission is to work for the continuous improvement of student achievement. We’re able to accomplish that mission through partnerships with our stakeholders, including local and state legislators.

I would like to thank those officials for their support, as they work with us to ensure our students continue to receive a high-quality educational experience and are college and career ready. Legislators frequently visit our schools and attend events and meetings as part of their passion to further enhance education in our communities.

On Jan. 25, State Rep. Terra Costa Howard (48th District), State Rep. Michelle Mussman (56th District), State Rep. Diane Pappas (45th District), State Rep. Karina Villa (49th District), State Rep. Kathleen Willis (77th District) and DuPage Regional Office of Education Regional Superintendent Dr. Darlene Ruscitti participated in a panel session with DuPage County school board members and administrators.

The event was hosted by Illinois Association of School Administrators (IASA) DuPage Division, Illinois Principals Association (IPA) DuPage Region, Legislative Education Network of DuPage (LEND) and DuPage Regional Office of Education and took place at the District 88 Administrative Office.

The meeting was an opportunity for DuPage County education leaders to meet and speak with legislators who were recently re-elected or newly elected. LEND Executive Director Peg Agnos welcomed everyone, and the panel participants introduced themselves and shared the areas in which they plan to focus while in office. A question-and-answer session then took place, and topics included school safety initiatives, amortization of debt, pension reform, flexibility with school hours and the Evidence-Based Funding for Student Success Act.
