On Nov. 22, The Brook Catering Co. (which is comprised of Willowbrook students who are enrolled in culinary courses at the school) provided a Thanksgiving meal for the Villa Park Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2801.

Willowbrook Career and Technical Education (CTE) teacher Amy Nowak, who coordinates The Brook Catering Co., said the students prepared the food in advance of the holiday. They made turkey, ham, green beans, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing and a variety of dessert items for 100 people, including 54 recruits, as well as veterans and volunteers. The company donated the food, and Nowak and members of The Brook Catering Co. stopped by the VFW on Thanksgiving to greet and speak with the group. The recruits also had an opportunity to call family members and loved ones on phones that were donated for the day.
