During its May 17 meeting, the DuPage Area Occupational Education System (DAOES) named Willowbrook senior Samuel Ricchetti as the system’s Student of the Month for May. He was nominated by Susan Mokry, Assistant Principal for Student Services at Technology Center of DuPage (TCD).

Ricchetti is a second-year student in the TCD Residential Wiring program. His instructor, Steve Cervenka, said Ricchetti has developed a strong work ethic and is a hard worker, who strives to do his best. He brings maturity and a positive attitude and has established himself as a classroom leader, who can take charge of a group or assist other students who might be struggling.

Ricchetti also is a member of the TCD A-Team, is a Student Ambassador for TCD and Willowbrook and recently competed in the Residential Wiring competition at SkillsUSA. He plans to enter the International Union of Electrical Workers Pre-Apprentice Program, which provides more than 300 hours of training that includes hands-on skills, onsite experiences and job safety.

Ricchetti was honored during the May 17 DAOES Board of Directors meeting and was awarded a plaque for this accomplishments.

“(Ricchetti’s) commitment to do well and be successful is demonstrated each day,” Mokry said in a statement. “He truly puts his heart and soul into being the best he can be. (Ricchetti) is an exceptional young man, who is very deserving of this recognition.”
