Village of Villa Park Director of Community Development speaks with Willowbrook students

Patrick Grill, Director of Community Development with the Village of Villa Park, speaks with Willowbrook AP Human Geography students on May 2.

On May 2, students enrolled in Willowbrook social studies teacher Brett Maguire’s AP Human Geography class had a special guest speaker.

Patrick Grill, Director of Community Development with the Village of Villa Park, visited the class to speak about his role and how it relates to the class’s recent unit on city design and planning. During that unit, the students created models and analyzed aspects such as zoning, services, transportation and residential housing. Grill provided students with feedback on their work, answered their questions and discussed current plans for Villa Park.

Maguire said he’s working with Grill to present to more students in the future, as well as ways in which to enhance the connection between the classroom and the village.
