On Feb. 12, Addison Trail hosted a signing ceremony for senior Katie Lacni, who has committed to play softball at Goshen College. Her goal is to be an outfielder for the Women’s Softball Team.

Lacni celebrated with teammates, friends, administrators, staff members and family members. Goshen College Women’s Softball Team Head Coach Kristen Kolter also was in attendance. Lacni is a three-year member of the Addison Trail Varsity Girls Softball Team and said highlights of her high school career have been earning her varsity letter and playing with such great teammates. She looks forward to more successes this spring season.

Addison Trail Varsity Girls Softball Head Coach Mark Olson said what makes Lacni stand out is her dedication to improving on and off the field.

“It has been an amazing experience to watch her growth as a leader on the team,” Olson said. “Lacni truly epitomizes the ideal ‘Triple A’ player – she has the Academics, the Athletic talent and the positive Attitude.”

Lacni has been playing softball since she was about 4 years old and said she wants to continue at the collegiate level because she can’t imagine her life without the sport.

“Softball is a big stress reliever for me,” Lacni said. “It makes me feel like I’m part of a second family, and when I step on the field, I can forget about everything else and just escape into the game.”

Lacni plans to pursue a degree in nursing at Goshen College.
