District 88 remembers a former Superintendent, who also served as Addison Trail’s first Principal

It is with great sadness District 88 shares the news Dr. David F. Koch Jr., former District 88 Superintendent and the first Principal of Addison Trail, has passed away.

“Koch served District 88 for 35 years and was an instrumental member of the District 88 family,” said Dr. Scott Helton, District 88 Superintendent. “He will be greatly missed. His contributions to the district can still be seen today, and his legacy will live on through the successes of our students.”

Koch, 92, passed away on Aug. 26. He served as Principal of Addison Trail from 1965 to 1972 and then as Superintendent of District 88 until 1983.

Addison Trail is gearing up to start planning for its 50th anniversary, which will take place in the 2016-17 school year. Addison Trail Principal Michael Bolden said the success the school has seen throughout the years wouldn’t have been possible without Koch’s leadership and vision.

“I’m honored to be the ninth Principal of Addison Trail and continue the legacy Koch began 50 years ago,” Bolden said. “Our Blazer Pride remains strong because of the foundation Koch helped create.”
