Willowbrook Guidance Department hosts College and Career Awareness Week

From March 23 to 27, the Willowbrook Guidance Department hosted a College and Career Awareness Week.

Throughout the week, seniors filled a wall at the school with the names of colleges and universities they plan to attend next year.

On March 24, representatives from the U.S. Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard and National Guard met with students during a Military Fair to discuss what each branch has to offer with regard to post-high school options. Students also had the opportunity to take the ASVAB Exam, which is an aptitude battery exam provided by the military that measures a student’s abilities and helps predict academic and career success.

On March 25, representatives from about 80 colleges and universities came to Willowbrook to speak with students about their respective campus during a College Fair. Students were able to ask questions directly, and they received information about their various post-high school options. An Essay Writing Workshop also took place that day to help students with their college essays.

On March 26, about 20 career professionals shared their insight and experience in various fields with students during Willowbrook’s Career & Vocational Fair. A Career Expo also took place that day and featured more than 15 career professionals.
