Willowbrook Guidance Department to host College and Career Awareness Week

From March 23 to 27, the Willowbrook Guidance Department will host its College and Career Awareness Week. The week consists of fairs, workshops and activities to share information with all students about their various post-high school options.

Students will have the opportunity to take an ASVAB Exam on March 24, which is an aptitude battery exam provided by the military that measures a student’s abilities and helps predict academic and career success. After taking the exam, students can visit the Military Fair and learn about what the different branches of the military have to offer with regard to post-high school options.

On March 25, students can attend an Essay Writing Workshop and learn what college admission representatives are looking for in a college essay. Seniors also will be able to attend a BEGIN Session hosted by College of DuPage or a Next Step Seminar. Willowbrook also will host a College Fair that day, where students can get information about more than 75 colleges and universities.

On March 26, students can visit with career professionals during the school’s Career Expo. They can speak with professionals and learn more about various careers. Later that day, students can attend the Career & Vocational Fair.

Other events that will take place during College and Career Awareness Week include seniors indicating where they plan to attend college and all students having the opportunity to speak with faculty and staff about their post-high school path. Teachers will post information in their classrooms about where they attended college and careers they’ve pursued.
