State senator serves as Principal for a Day at Willowbrook

On Dec. 9, a new face took over as Principal of Willowbrook, as State Sen. Tom Cullerton (D, District 23) served as Principal for a Day through the Illinois Principals Association (IPA).

The Principal for a Day program provides an opportunity for principals and other administrators to build and refine relationships with their state and federal legislators. Participation in the program involves state and federal legislators visiting schools in their legislative district, interacting with staff and students and performing selected administrative tasks.

During his visit, Cullerton enjoyed a tour of Willowbrook, stopped by several classrooms to speak with students and staff and led the school in the Pledge of Allegiance.

“The Principal for a Day program is a great way for us to share with legislators what’s going on at Willowbrook, in District 88 and in education throughout the U.S.,” said Willowbrook Principal Dan Krause. “We always enjoy opening our doors to showcase our students, staff and programs to Cullerton and other legislators.”
