Willowbrook Key Club hosts food drive to help those in need

From Nov. 11 to 21, Willowbrook’s Key Club sponsored a food drive to help those in need this holiday season.

The drive collected more than 1,000 nonperishable items for local food pantries. The Warrior Time (resource period) that brought in the most donations was treated to a breakfast on Dec. 2. There were two winning classes, and each class collected more than 200 items. The winners were Elizabeth Stady and Colleen Smith’s Warrior Time and Peg Browne’s Warrior Time.

The breakfast was catered by the Brook Catering Co., which is comprised of Willowbrook students who are enrolled in culinary classes at the school. The Key Club is affiliated with the Kiwanis Club of Villa Park, and several members of that club attended the breakfast to show their support and to congratulate the students on their food drive.
