District 88 honors veterans through Veterans Day events

Veterans Day (Nov. 11) is a time to say thank you to all veterans and members of the military, and Addison Trail and Willowbrook hosted events to honor local servicemen and women.

On Nov. 7, Addison Trail invited members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 7446 in Addison, the DeVry Military Resource Club, the Addison Police Department and the Addison Fire Protection District to attend a luncheon in their honor. During the event, about 25 local veterans and first responders enjoyed a lunch and a Veterans Day video. A collage honoring soldiers with a connection to Addison Trail also was displayed in the halls and the media center at the school.

On Nov. 11, Willowbrook hosted its annual Veterans Day assembly. Students enjoyed a presentation that showcased the history of the military and the true meaning of Veterans Day. Soldiers with a connection to Willowbrook were honored, and local officials – including State Sen. Tom Cullerton (D, District 23) – and members of the Villa Park Police Department and VFW Post 2801 in Villa Park attended the event.
