District 88 National Breast Cancer Awareness Month recap

Throughout the month of October, Addison Trail and Willowbrook hosted a variety of events to raise money for breast cancer awareness and research in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Below is a recap of those happenings.

Addison Trail

Through the efforts below, Addison Trail raised about $10,000. That money will benefit the Breast Cancer Quality of Life Surveillance Program of Elmhurst Memorial Hospital Center for Cancer Care.

  • Participated in a Volley for the Cure volleyball game at Willowbrook
  • Hosted the third annual Go Pink or Go Home Walk (which also included a Go Pink Dinner this year)
  • Sold treats and other “pink” items and decorated the halls in pink
  • Hosted a Crazy Pink Day
  • Students and staff wore pink every Friday

Willowbrook

Through the efforts below, Willowbrook raised about $2,500. That money will benefit the American Cancer Society and the Relay For Life of District 88 All Youth event in March.

  • Hosted a Volley for the Cure volleyball game against Addison Trail
  • Sold “pink” ribbons, scarves and T-shirts
  • Offered a “Dress Down Day,” where staff members could donate money to wear casual clothing
  • Decorated the halls and the football stadium in pink
