Willowbrook students participate in District 45 program about digital landscape

On Nov. 18, six Willowbrook students participated in an event at Jefferson Middle School to discuss social media and today’s digital world. They were accompanied by District 88 Library Media Center Director Rose Janusz.

The program, entitled “Plugged-in Parents: Grades K-8, Keeping Kids Safe, Happy, and Healthy in the Digital Age,” was hosted by District 45 staff members Beth Slusher, Director of Digital Learning & Innovation, Melissa Guido, Instructional Technology Facilitator, and Laura Scola, Technology Facilitator. The program incorporated resources from Common Sense Media (www.commonsensemedia.org) to assist parents of elementary and middle school students in navigating the digital world with their children.

The Willowbrook students who participated are (pictured above, from left to right in each photo) sophomore Eric Veal Jr., senior Caden Mielke, junior Siobhan Heneghan, junior Sean Shepherd, junior Ryan Brown and junior Colin Lane. They served as panelists and answered questions about the current landscape of social media for teens.
