New ‘State of District 88’ video segment online now

On May 29, District 88 hosted its final segment of "The State of District 88" for the 2018-19 school year.

During the filming, District 88 Superintendent Dr. Scott Helton, Willowbrook Principal Dr. Daniel Krause and Addison Trail Principal Michael Bolden interviewed Willowbrook alumnus Jackson Hathaway and Addison Trail alumnus Connor White, both of whom graduated on May 19 with the class of 2019. The episode highlighted Hathaway's tremendous academic success and White's amazing performing arts success.

Jackson Hathaway

  • Hathaway was recognized by The College Board for his performance on the Advanced Placement (AP)/college-level United States Government and Politics Exam, which he took in May 2018.
  • AP exams are scored on a scale of 1 to 5, where a 5 is equivalent to a grade of A in the corresponding college course. Hathaway not only received the top score of 5, but he also was one of 113 students in the world to earn every point possible on the United States Government and Politics Exam.
  • According to The College Board, only 675 students in the world earned every point possible on an AP Exam, receiving the maximum score on each portion of the assessment.
  • Hathaway also has been recognized as a National Merit Finalist, an Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction, received the Outstanding Freshman Award and the 88’s Best award and has been named to the Distinction Honor Roll each semester of his high school career.
  • Hathaway has earned the Seal of Biliteracy, is President of Civitas (Willowbrook’s Social Studies Honors Society) and is an inductee of the school’s National Honor Society, Math Honor Society and World Language Honor Society.
  • Hathaway has participated in Mock Trial, Model United Nations and the Boys Golf Team.
  • Hathaway will attend the United States Naval Academy to pursue a degree in political science.

Connor White

  • White recently participated in Broadway In Chicago’s Illinois High School Musical Theatre Awards. That event took place on May 5 and 6 at Broadway Playhouse in Chicago, and he performed a group number and two song selections.
  • White was nominated in the Best Actor category for his performance as Jack Kelly in the school’s winter musical, “Newsies.”
  • White was selected as a finalist for Best Actor.
  • White also was nominated for Best Actor in 2018 for his performance as Don Lockwood in “Singin’ in the Rain.”
  • White was selected as a member of the Cast/Ensemble in the 2019 Illinois High School Theatre Festival All-State production of “In the Heights.” He was selected to participate in the 2018 Illinois High School Theatre Festival All-State production of “Big Fish” as well, which was then chosen to perform during the International Thespian Festival last June in Nebraska.
  • White has participated in about 14 shows and all of the major productions at Addison Trail and has been the lead in many of them.
  • White was inducted as a Thespian his freshman year.
  • White is part of the ATtribute yearbook staff.
  • White plans to attend College of DuPage and continue acting.
