* Selecting Text Using the Mouse:

  1. A word - double click the word (note that the space following the word is also selected).
  2. A sentence - Hold the Ctrl and click anywhere in the sentence.
  3. A line of text - Point to the line in the selection bar (that is the area of white space to left of your mouse becomes an inward pointing arrow) and click. To select multiple lines, drag in the selection bar.
  4. A paragraph - Triple click within the paragraph OR point to the paragraph in the selection bar and double-click
  5. The entire document - Hold down Ctrl and click anywhere in the selection bar OR triple-click in the selection bar.
  6. Selection a block of text Click the mouse pointer where you want the block to start; scroll to where you want the selection to end; hold down on the shift key + left click your mouse.

 

* To Remove Extra Toolbars Showing On Your Screen - right click in your menu bar; remove any
extra tool bars that are selected.

* Mouse Shortcut Menus - right click (You will be amazed at what you find. Your choices change,
depending on the task being performed.)

* A Fast Way To Get To Page Setup - double-click on the top part of your ruler bar.

* Applying Formatting To Text - to apply bold to a word, you don’t have to have the word selected, just click inside the word and click on bold (that also applies to underline and italics. To justify a paragraph, you don’t have to have the paragraph selected, just click somewhere inside the paragraph and select the alignment desired like center or justify

* Format Painter - This allows you to copy the formatting you applied to text to other selected text.

  1. Select text that has the format you want to copy
  2. Double-click the paintbrush tool on the Standard Toolbar;
  3. The mouse becomes a paintbrush
  4. Drag that paintbrush over text that you want to format
