The following is a listing frequently questioned citing questions. Students need to continue referring to the DuPage High School District # 88 Writing Style Manual (pages 10 – 14) for examples of how to cite sources. The following examples are given in the MLA, Modern Language, format http://www.mla.org/main_stl.htm The fifth edition of the Handbook provides additional information on citing web sites. Check your LMC for more information.

The Electric Library is a vast full-text collection containing millions of documents and images from respected publishers in these 6 distinct categories:

The content is updated daily by satellite and other electronic media so students get the latest news and information as soon as it’s possible.

Whenever you have an Electric Library document (article, transcript, section of a book, photo, or map) open, all the bibliographic information is listed in a window at the top of the document. When you print or save it, these sources, will automatically accompany it, and can be used, as is, for informal style reports. However, for schools that require a formal method, the MLA Style is often used. Some illustrations follow that contract Electric Library format with the MLA format for the same citation.

SIRS

Under Modern Language Association guidelines (MLA Handbook for Writers of Research papers, 4th ed.),the bibliography is called ""Works Cited," and the above article would be cited as follows:

Instead of footnotes, the author’s surname and article number is placed in parentheses within the body of the text. To document the article cited above: (Fisher, Art.79). If there are two or more works by the same author in the works cited list, add a shortened version of the title: (Fisher, Attach on," Art 79).

Note that the CQ Researcher and Issues and Controversies are cited in the same manner.
